Temecula Laser Skin Resurfacing can treat a variety of surface problems of the skin. For example, those who have acne scars or age spots can experience tighter, whiter, smoother skin with treatment. It is also commonly used to treat lines and wrinkles and sagging skin on the face. While it is most often used on the face, certain types of lasers can be used to resurface the skin of the neck, chest, and hands. Some even use laser skin resurfacing to reduce stretch marks on the abdomen and thighs following pregnancy.
Prior to Temecula laser skin resurfacing, Dr. Tavoussi will schedule a full consultation. During this time, he will ask the individual for a complete medical and surgical history and will perform a brief physical to determine the patient’s level of health. Depending on the patient’s needs, he may prescribe an antiviral or an antibiotic prior to the first treatment. He will also instruct the patient on changes they need to make to their daily regimens to stay safe during treatment. For example, he may tell patients to stop taking certain medications or supplements and to refrain from using certain topical treatments.
Patients do not have to be asleep to undergo laser skin resurfacing. However, because there can be some pain associated with the treatment, patients may be given a topical anesthetic as well as a medication to aid in relaxation. Depending on the area of skin to be treated, the entire procedure could last from a half an hour to two hours. Following treatment, patients should follow Dr. Tavoussi’s instructions for skin care to ensure that they do not have painful or permanent complications. Patients should stay out of the sun, clean their skin daily and use any ointments that are prescribed. The skin will heal completely within at least three weeks.
