Before and After Surgery

You will want to have plenty of ice, bags to put the ice in, gauze, lots of soft foods (chewing is not something you’re going to want to do right after the surgery), and any prescriptions or ointments Dr. Tavoussi prescribes or recommends.

Recovery Period

Complications are generally rare, but you will want to have a thermometer to check your temperature: if it reaches 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, call Dr. Tavoussi immediately or have someone drive you to the emergency room, as a fever after surgery is often an indicator of an infection.

The recovery time ranges anywhere from three to four days, but your face may remain swollen for up to several weeks. You can expect the swelling to go down gradually over this period.
