Although breast reduction surgery is typically thought of as being only for women who have extremely pendulous or large breasts that cause embarrassment or even pain, this type of cosmetic surgery procedure may be used on men who have enlargement of the breasts, known as gynecomastia. This can be extremely embarrassing for Los Angeles men who long to have well-shaped pectoral regions with clearly defined muscles. However, a fairly simple procedure that is technically called reduction mammaplasty can be used to correct this problem as well as the problem of enlarged areolas should this be necessary.
At OC Cosmetic Surgery Clinique, Dr. Tavoussi works with patients throughout the entire Orange County area, including the city of Los Angeles, to achieve the bodies of their dreams. Whether this means making changes to enhance already great physiques or creating new body shapes to eliminate self-consciousness, the doctor is prepared to meet with and advise any patient. Men will want to make an initial appointment with Dr. Tavoussi to discuss their goals for this procedure and to talk about risks and benefits of a reduction mammaplasty. The risks are minimal, but because this is a procedure that requires anesthesia, patients should be aware of any complications that could arise.
Dr. Tavoussi performs breast reductions at an outpatient surgery center north of our Newport Beach Clinique location. This provides easy access for all Los Angeles patients who will arrive at the surgery center in the morning and be discharged home the same day. Patients will most likely have some pain and swelling around the breasts for several days following the procedure, but this can be controlled with medication prescribed by the doctor. Depending on the exact surgery, Dr. Tavoussi may place a drain in the incisions that will need to be removed a few days post-operatively. Whether or not a drain is placed, Los Angeles patients will be asked to return to our Clinique in a few days for follow-up appointments to determine how recovery is going.
