As you age, your skin gradually loses its strength and elasticity. You will notice that it begins to appear thinner and that it develops increasing numbers of wrinkles and folds. While a lifetime of amazing memories probably helped etch these marks into your skin, they may not appear to be quite so welcome when you see them in the mirror. Although it is impossible to erase skin aging completely, you can take daily steps to care well for your skin, and you may want to consider certain cosmetic treatments that can help you look at least 5 to 10 years younger.
Beware of Dry Skin
You will notice your skin becoming increasingly drier and more fragile as you age. Besides using highly moisturizing products, you will also want to remember to use cooler water when you shower or bathe and to replace your bar soap with a creamier cleanser. Be sure to use a soap-free facial cleanser as well.
Beware of Perfumed Products
Products that contain fragrances can be highly irritating to aging skin and can strip away natural oils, leading to rashes, dryness, and itchiness. Instead, opt for fragrance-free cleansers and lotions.
Choose Serums with Peptides, Vitamin C and Glycolic Acid
A serum can bring an extra boost of nutrients or hydration to your facial skin. Look for highly moisturizing as well as skin-firming ingredients. Peptides help firm up your skin, vitamin C can get rid of light skin discoloration, and glycolic acid can brighten your skin and get rid of dead skin cells.
Consider Surgical Options
In your 60s, you most likely still have reasonably good skin tone that allows you to consider having a facelift, eyebrow lift or neck lift. These surgeries can get rid of sagging skin, open up your face, and smooth away wrinkles.
