Fat grafting can take care of two problems simultaneously. First, it can remove fat through liposuction from one area of the body. Second, it moves the fat to a new place. Many of our patients have heard of fat transfer breast augmentations but have not heard how the same type of procedure can be used to improve the shape or tone of their faces overall.
Not everyone will have the same results with facial fat grafting. This is mainly because some of the fat cells can be reabsorbed by the body after they are injected into the face. Success rates range from 20 to 90 percent for the number of fat cells that are successfully transferred. Success depends on many variables including those listed below.
The Physician
The more experience with and knowledge of the procedure that the physician has, the higher chance there is for great results. Dr. Tavoussi is a highly experienced cosmetic surgeon who has worked with facial aesthetics and fat grafting for years.
The Patient
Ideally, patients should generally be healthy with no chronic diseases and with no acute issues near the location. It works best for individuals who are trying to fill in moderately deep lines on the face and for those wanting to fill in hollowed-out cheeks.
Self-care
Patients who care for the area according to their physician’s instructions will experience the best results. They may see some swelling initially and should take things easy for the first couple of days.
